Common Questions

Every medical nutrition plan is a written document (PDF) tailored to your specific condition, weight, activity level, and eating habits. It includes daily calorie and macronutrient targets, a sample 1-day meal plan using Filipino foods (rice, viand, vegetables, snacks), practical substitutions for common ingredients, and guidance on portions using everyday references, no food scales required.
For condition-specific plans, you will also get targets for nutrients relevant to your condition, for example, sodium limits for hypertension patients, carbohydrate distribution for diabetes, or protein restrictions for CKD.
Yes. All three programs can be done via teleconsult. The initial assessment is done over a video call where Dr. Zapanta takes a full dietary history, reviews your recent labs (you can send these digitally), and discusses your goals. The medical nutrition plan is then sent to you as a PDF.
Monthly or bi-monthly follow-ups are also done remotely. This makes the programs accessible to patients anywhere in the Philippines, including those in the province, OFWs supporting relatives back home, or anyone with a busy schedule who cannot make it to a Metro Manila clinic regularly.
After payment, you will receive a confirmation from PayMaya. The clinic will then contact you within one business day to schedule your initial assessment consultation (in person or via teleconsult).
To make the first consultation productive, it helps to have your most recent laboratory results on hand, fasting blood sugar, HbA1c (for diabetes patients), lipid profile, creatinine (for CKD patients), blood pressure readings, and any other recent tests. If you do not have recent labs, Dr. Zapanta can order them as part of the initial assessment.
Lab tests are not included in the program fee and are not required before starting, though they are strongly recommended for condition-specific programs to personalize your plan accurately.
If you need labs ordered, Dr. Zapanta can provide a laboratory request as part of your initial consultation. You can have the tests done at any accredited laboratory of your choice. Once results are available, you send them to the clinic and Dr. Zapanta will incorporate the findings into your medical nutrition plan and overall care plan. For the Premium program, lab tracking is built into the regular reviews.
The program goes well beyond medical nutrition plans. Dr. Zapanta takes a holistic approach to health, which means he looks at how diet, physical activity, sleep quality, hormonal balance, stress levels, and your environment all interact and affect your health outcomes.
A medical nutrition plan is one tool; sustainable results come from addressing the full picture. During consultations, Dr. Zapanta reviews all of these areas and gives practical, evidence-based guidance on each one relevant to your condition.
Yes. As a licensed physician, Dr. Zapanta can prescribe GLP-1 receptor agonists including semaglutide (Ozempic, Wegovy) and tirzepatide (Mounjaro) when clinically appropriate.
His role goes beyond simply writing the prescription. He guides patients on the safest, most sustainable, and most effective way to use these medications, including the nutrition and lifestyle habits that make results last long-term and reduce the risk of muscle loss or weight regain when the medication is eventually stopped.
Yes. Supplement guidance is part of Dr. Zapanta's holistic approach. With so many products making unverified claims, it is easy to end up taking supplements that are unnecessary, redundant, or counterproductive for your specific condition and medications.
Dr. Zapanta reviews your current supplement list, eliminates what is not useful, identifies genuine gaps, and recommends only what is evidence-based and appropriate for your health goals.
